Tillandsia Xerographica Air Plant Large

Air plants, or Tillandsia, are unique and fascinating houseplants that thrive without soil. They have adapted to grow on other surfaces, making them a low-maintenance choice for plant lovers. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you care for your air plants:

Light Requirements

  • Bright, Indirect Light: Air plants prefer bright, indirect sunlight. They can tolerate some direct sunlight in the morning or late afternoon but should be protected from harsh, direct light during midday to avoid leaf burn.
  • Optimal Placement: A well-lit windowsill or a spot with filtered light is ideal for maintaining healthy growth.

Watering

  • Soak Method: Every 1-2 weeks, soak your air plants in room-temperature water for about 20-30 minutes. Make sure they are completely submerged.
  • Misting: In addition to soaking, mist your plants 2-3 times a week, especially in dry conditions, to provide extra humidity.

Drying

  • Air Drying: After soaking, shake off any excess water and place your air plants upside down on a towel for a few hours to dry completely. This helps prevent rot by ensuring that water does not collect in the base of the leaves.
